Professor wants DupeRam12345 to stay permanently banned with no 2nd chance even if he offers money.

It's been fun interacting with the community in the forums, I should do stuff like this again.

I guess the lesson is that you shouldn't betray the people who trusted you nor tell lies to your community, as ultimately, you will be forced to face the consequences of your actions.

If I were him, I would close the ArchMc chapter in my life and move on to something greater.

Dear Players, 

It's me Zarif, one of the Admins of this server and website.

Recently, there have been many reports against some of our staff members on our team and unrest with the decision to ban certain players. 

Let me tell you how it all started.

Monica, the manager of the server, recently started giving out special deals where players could get items discounted if they bought a certain amount. For example, one of the deals Monica had was buy 4 tags for 80 USD. Normally, buying 4 tags would cost you 120 USD, but since it was in a deal you could save 40 USD. Some players, such as the ones banned (DupeRam12345, 200BoxedLost, and others) have attempted to abuse this system by buying the bundle and then requesting a refund in hopes of getting the regular price refund rate instead of the bundle rate.  This is considered fraud, and since it involves real money, it can be illegal. We swiftly banned these players upon the realization of their abuse. Some players who have been banned have been unbanned after paying the amount of money they frauded in their refunds. That is why there is an unban price for certain players. I've also noticed certain screenshots circulating the forums of Monica using completely unacceptable words. The higher staff and I will have a thorough talk with him about his behavior.

I am open to any valid criticism regarding this situation, I am not perfect, nor are the players involved.

I humbly request that the moderators and staff of the ArchMC Server to reconsider their decision and unban the two members. Reevaluating their case with impartiality and thoroughness is not only a testament to fairness but a step towards enriching the values our shared gaming community.

Although their actions may have been somewhat unethical, I believe that they should not be punished this severely for something that is partially also the staff's fault. There are different solutions that would somewhat appease both sides of this argument. We believe that permanently banning 200 and Dupe was a rash decision that was made on the spot. 

I believe that with due compensation unbanning the users is the right thing to do. However, based on recent comments from both Monica and some rumors from other users, I have heard that they will not be unbanned, even after returning the goods that were taken advantage of, thus raising concerns. 

I acknowledge that the actions performed by Duperam and 200 could be illegal and were not well thought out. However, I would also like to remind the staff that they are also not fully mature yet. They probably thought that it was a smart idea that could get them some quick advantages or money. People make mistakes, I believe that second chances should be given. Of course, if such things happen multiple times, the situation would be different, but this is a first time thing and I believe that a more open-minded approach would result in a solution that would benefit all parties.

I do agree that these players who make silly mistakes should have their cases seen again. Mistakes such as hacking, swearing in chat, or nude skins might be silly mistakes. Or trying to bypass the chat filters and things like that. But a mistake involving money is a serious issue. Especially one that aims to destabilize the trust we have put in players. When Duper initially opened his first refund request, I refunded him the whole amount at the normal rate without realizing that I should have given him less. And he continued to do so.. 3 more times. This undermines the trust I have put on the community, the trust that others have built up. Not only did his actions hurt him self, but the community as a whole. I hope you reconsider your stance before advocating for him in the future.

I have done the same thing as the players but I didn't know it at the time, a few days ago a player named AES_85 said he can give me custom tag for 8 credits I thought he was joking but he ended up doing it I didn't know it at the time so I thought that I can convert it to credits so I can get an extra 22 credits and I did it and got an extra 22 credits on top of my 8 credits and the day after AES_85 told me it is bannable to do that but I did it before I knew and I have 7 credits now am I gonna get banned or I can get back to 22 credits and you can delete them if you want

I would also like to mention the impact that these two people had on the server. Although you guys as staff may not like them because of the previous incidents, I would like to mention that these two, mainly 200Boxedlost (as I haven't interacted with duper that much but many people say the same) are generous, kind, and have contributed a lot to the community.

Also, I would like to point out the rule that when a child is charged with a crime, they are given a less severe punishment than if an adult was, with the reasoning being that children make mistakes and the main focus of punishment being to correct them. This is why juvenile correctional facilities are named that way. They are meant to CORRECT people's mistakes.

I think that such mistakes can be corrected. There are simple fixes. Although I understand that this is a severe situation with severe consequences and a ban is considered light by a legal standpoint, I would like to say that if said users return the credits that were made by this loophole and releaseformal apologies for this incident, they should be unbanned, given that they do not do this again.

I believe that doing this ban should be changed from permanent to temporary, and should serve as a warning. I recognize that in the real world second chances are not always given, but I implore the staff to be generous and give said second chance.

To the people who are arguing against me and questioning why I'm arguing this:

I wrote these two replies as a service, a more formal way of voicing people's concerns. I used statements from various users who have voiced concerns in public chat, forums, and also to me. 

Also, I have the right to voice my opinion. I thought that putting the concerns of the community into formal writing would be a much more beneficial approach than cussing people out or doing other unacceptable things. Thus, summarizing these points could prevent others from doing things in the future that they might regret. 

I have a first amendment right to voice my opinion and I should not be punished for that.

I concede your point that they have undermined many people's trust. However, I think that many mistakes have been made, on both sides. Firstly and foremost taking advantage of the tags was the biggest mistake. This should not have happened. However, I think the main reason why people are also unhappy is because of staff sloppiness. Staff should have realized that these tags were bought at a discounted price. Even if staff had realized partway through this mistake this incident would not have been this bad. 

I am not blaming the staff 100% for this incident, I agree that Duper and 200 started this incident and should be punished in some way. However, my opinion is just that a permanent ban without even a chance at a second go is over the top. I think that members of communities like seeing staff member's generosity. Although this generosity and kindness should be earned, I would assume that as this incident has already blown up and that staff will probably be more careful in the future, I believe that such an incident won't happen again.

Thus, my position is to carefully discuss this situation with duper and 200, and make reasonable terms for the unban. I think that a second try should be given, instead of just shooting them down.

Sure we should have realized, but he did 100% intended to profit of our unknowingness. In the ticket he explicitly mentioned the refund rate being the regular price instead of the discounted price. He 100% wanted us to give him the wrong amount of money.

This is not something you can easily just get a 2nd chance of.

Evidence: 

He did this 3 more times, exactly a few hours after receiving the discounted tags. 100% intended to fool the staff team into giving him more credits then we should have.

You should really stop advocating for him as you have no real basis for ur arguments other then people deserve a 2nd chance.

Yet when we told him to pay 25 credits for an unban, he took it to the forums to mock the staff team.

His actions goes against your beliefs.

This wasn't really a big issue, we offered him a price for his unban, yet he took it to the forums to undermine our punishment system which in turn not only split the community but opened a lot of hateful msgs towards the staff team.

Shades, this is an issue related to money and fraud. Real Money!!!!!

Ive given out 30 day bans for hitler skins, and inappropriate names before (though rare), imagine how many days I would give him for committing fraud.

While all your statements are true, I would like to mention that not all people are unwilling to pay the due credits, and some would even probably pay extra as a fine for taking advantage of the situation. I think that through communication, deals can be reached. If duper is as unreasonable as you say, then so be it. The main reason I'm arguing is I'm advocating for 200Boxed. I was also informed by some that duper had told them that he would pay the credits, so I was a little misinformed there. 

To prevent further misunderstanding, if possible, could you please post screenshots of such interactions with both user's reactions?

I mean, I think 200Boxed asking the community should not be counted as a no. However, I do agree with your statement that banning without compensation is right. I understand this, all my previous arguments were based on the assumption that staff would not unban even if payment was given.

“im not paying it” is basically a no, him not paying it already is also a no. You have listed several arguments that do not fit the actions of duperam. you need to research or stay silent before making assumptions. Your ideas not only contradict Duperam's, it just shows you how much mistrust he has placed within the community. Overall I think the punishments are fair at this time. We may (not guaranteeing anything) consider an unban of this user 1 year later if he admits what he has done, apologizes to the community and staff team, and pays the money.
